Nurse Manager - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

We are seeking a Nurse Manager to lead our clinical team and oversee daily operations for the J55 and J56 Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units. In this role, you will provide clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. You will be responsible for staffing, scheduling, and supervising nursing practice while fostering a collaborative, supportive environment that promotes staff development. This role supports a highly specialized patient population, including the management of mechanical circulatory support (MCS) therapies such as ECMO, LVAD, and Impella devices.

You will oversee all aspects of personnel management and development, ensuring clinical excellence and a positive work environment. Your dedication and leadership will enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for patients, visitors, and fellow caregivers alike.

A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.  

• Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.  

• Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.  

• Supervise caregivers and promote development.  

• Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.  

• Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.  

• Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes. 

• Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.  

• Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.  

• Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.  

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross 

• Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience 

• High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area 

• Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) 

• Prior Cardiac ICU, Stepdown or ICU experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination.

• Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking.

• Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range.

• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
