Established in 1978, Cleveland Clinic's Sleep Disorders Center was among the first in the nation dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in people of all ages. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, our team performs more than 9,000 annual studies, using each result to help patients address distressing symptoms and effects.
As a Polysomnographic Technician, you will assist your dedicated and expert caregivers in this area of treatment improvement. You will perform various diagnostic sleep studies, aiding in our mission to enhance quality of life and health for people across the globe. A caregiver in this position works three 12-hour night shifts from Sunday – Friday from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. No major holidays. This position offers self-scheduling. Must be able to float to CCF Bath location.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Prepare patients and equipment for ordered testing.
- Interview patients to determine sleep disorder issues and explain testing procedures.
- Perform and document testing.
- Monitor patients throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues under minimal supervision.
- Score, interpret and report results of sleep studies.
- Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing.
- Determine and report needed repairs/replacements.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High school diploma of GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
- One year of polysomnographic testing and scoring experience on the job or through clinical or one year of EEG, respiratory therapy or healthcare related experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Completion of an A Step Program
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients.
Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $20.77
Maximum hourly: $31.68
