The Float Pool provides a unique experience for caregivers to care for diverse populations of patients in many units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. As an LPN, you will provide basic bedside care to these patients, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.
A caregiver in this position works PT day/night shifts from 11:00AM – 11:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:30PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
Perform routine laboratory tests.
Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program
Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of patient care experience
Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.
Involves extensive standing and walking.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $23.25
Maximum hourly: $33.50
