Job Overview
As a Surgical Dental Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing patient care and supporting our surgical team in delivering exceptional outcomes. You’ll assist in complex dental procedures, maintain sterile environments, and ensure patients feel informed and comfortable throughout their visit.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment using proper aseptic and infection control protocols.
- Assist Dr. Scott during procedures by providing chairside support, managing instruments, and ensuring all supplies are readily available.
- Record treatment notes, vital signs, and surgical details in Open Dental and related digital systems.
- Take and process digital X-rays and 3D scans to support diagnostics and treatment planning.
- Educate patients before and after procedures to ensure understanding and comfort.
- Collaborate with our treatment coordinator and front office team to maintain efficient patient flow and scheduling.
- Stay current on surgical techniques, dental terminology, and specialty areas including periodontics, implantology, and oral surgery.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience as a Dental or Surgical Assistant in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of infection control, sterilization, and dental terminology.
- Proficiency in Open Dental, Dentrix, or similar EMR systems.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in periodontics, oral surgery, or general dentistry.
- Familiarity with CBCT imaging or 3D scanning technology.
- Current BLS or ACLS certification.
