The Clermont County Kennel provides care for stray, neglected and abused dogs by providing shelter, food and exercise, coordinating access to medical care and, ultimately, providing an opportunity to find a loving, permanent home.

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
Probationary Period: 180 Day Probationary Period
Core Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; on-call; evenings/weekends possible
Salary: Contingent upon qualifications/experience (Minimum $43,700)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or GED Equivalent. Experience in working with dogs highly preferred or training and/or education which shows an advanced knowledge of Chapter 955 of the Ohio Revised Code relative to the housing, feeding, caring for, destroying and disposing of unlicensed and stray dogs. Ability to assist in the safe and efficient operations of dog kennels. Ability to communicate effectively with management, peers and the public. Ability to prioritize work efforts. Ability to work with dogs, recognize different breeds of dogs, recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action is preferred. Ability to keep the kennel clean and the dogs' enclosures sanitary. Ability to feed and exercise the dogs on a regular basis, compile and prepare reports, and handle sensitive inquiries from officials and the general public is required. Ability to walk, run, jump, crawl, climb, and stoop on uneven surfaces and access premises by whatever legal means necessary to fulfill the task at hand is required. Ability to safely lift animals and equipment up to and possibly exceed 100 pounds is required. Must have and maintain a valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

JOB DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Chief Dog Warden, patrols the County and enforces Chapter 955 of the Ohio Revised Code. Captures, handles, and transports injured, orphaned, nuisance, and sick dogs in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures that the dog kennel facility is clean and dogs under the control of the Warden are properly fed, exercised and maintained. Assists the Chief Dog Warden in working with organizations and the general public to foster and adopt dogs to minimize euthanasia. May serve as liaison between Dog Warden's Office and other state, county, and local agencies as directed. Attends meetings as directed. Helps to maintain records of licenses sold, warnings issued, citations issued, charges filed, and licenses purchased in the prior year but not renewed. Assists with coordination of volunteers.

Receives and responds to telephone/dispatched complaints and emergencies. Assists in the investigation of dog bite cases and predator claims on livestock. Interviews victims, witnesses, and suspects. Assists in investigations, gathers evidence, files charges, serves warrants, and assists in the presentation of cruelty cases as required. Issues citations in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code. Cooperates with other agencies (prosecutor's office and local law enforcement) and offices in the investigation and prosecution of offenses. Assists in the handling of felony and misdemeanor cases and the filing of charges.

Completes all reports accurately and in a timely manner. Receives messages, provides general information and transmit messages to appropriate personnel. Performs clerical functions and operates office equipment as needed.

Works alone or with other persons in short- or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects when assigned. Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in area of cross-training as necessary. New and other related duties as assigned. Works aggressively to reduce or eliminate safety/risk concerns in current position or work location.
