Job Summary
The Field Technician III - Pumps & Electrical Maintenance will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of the assigned water and/or wastewater systems. This is a role that will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, with proven hands-on experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, performs general maintenance and repairs of the assigned utility systems
- Operation of vehicles and equipment to include power tools, pumps, mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, etc.
- Review service orders to determine locations where services need to be performed
- Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal, State and local rules and regulations
- Inspect pumps, electrical and utility systems, meters, and connections to determine defects, faults and damages
- Repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service lines
- Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to immediate supervisor
- Connect and disconnect utility services as directed
- Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly, and kept updated
- Locate underground utility lines
- Work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety policies
- Wear steel toe protective footwear and other personal protection equipment during regular work hours
- Performs other related duties as directed

- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required
- At least 2-3 years of experience with servicing utility systems
- Ability and willingness to work independently
- Ability to understand water systems and concepts
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform sustained physical labor, including heavy lifting and working above your head and below your feet
- Neat and clean in appearance, courteous and friendly with the general public and willing to be a part of a team
- Must be available to work overtime and ‘on-call’ as needed
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted; occasionally required to lift heavier objects with assistance or mechanical aids.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights, including ladders, scaffolding, or into vaults, manholes, and tanks.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate valves, and use instrumentation or control devices.
- Visual and auditory ability to detect, identify, and diagnose equipment malfunctions or leaks in piping and system components.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, safety harnesses, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Able to safely enter and work in hazardous environments including those with strong odors, loud noise, and potential chemical exposure.
- Must maintain physical readiness to respond quickly to emergency repairs or system failures, including after-hours or on-call assignments.
