Job Summary 

The Water Distribution & Wastewater Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of the system’s infrastructure. This is to be done in a safe and efficient manner that meets all client and regulatory requirements. With guidance from the facility Project Manager, this position is carried out in a way that requires a high level of independent judgement and oversight.

Responsibilities 

• Direct daily activities and coordination of tasks across work groups.
• Manage field personnel including hiring, coaching, and conducting written performance evaluations.
• Identify system maintenance needs and critical maintenance areas.
• Assist Project Manager with contacting client, regulators, and community representatives regarding compliance matters.
• Investigate resident inquiries/ complaints regarding water distribution and wastewater collections and take corrective action. Provide notification of sanitary overflows to leadership, agencies, and client as required.
• Ensure all GA EPD quality and regulatory requirements are met.
• Provide oversight for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of all water distribution and wastewater collections equipment and systems.
• Assist with managing departmental budget, monitoring costs, and tracking expenses.
• Provide input for capital improvement planning to support long-term initiative.
• Oversee the order of supplies, chemicals, and materials as needed, ensuring resources are available for operations.
• Perform routine safety training sessions and address risks specific to water distribution and wastewater collections.
• Investigate incidents or near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Maintain relationships with 3rd party suppliers and contractors.
• Operate computer systems and associated programs. Provide analysis and written reports as necessary.
• Maintains complete and accurate records for the repair and costs of department equipment in the computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
• Be available for emergency callouts.
• Oversees training activities for the department.

Qualifications 

• Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Practical experience and knowledge of safety compliance programs (i.e., confined space, trenching, lockout/tagout).
• Knowledge of GA EPD water and wastewater requirements.
• Effective communication skills to build strong relationships with team members, clients, and community members.
• Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot operations, maintenance, or compliance and implement solutions quickly.
• Familiar with GIS for mapping infrastructure and supporting capital planning.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, inspections, and repair of water distribution and wastewater collections infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Georgia Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection license preferred.
• Six years of experience in the construction, operation, and/ or maintenance of a water distribution and wastewater collections system including three years in a supervisory capacity.
