Job Title: Seasonal Groundskeeper
Job Type: Part-time, Seasonal (Summer)
Reports to: Grounds Superintendent

Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Seasonal Groundskeeper to help maintain the appearance, safety, and overall condition of cemetery grounds during the summer season. This part-time position supports daily cemetery operations through landscaping, grounds care, setup assistance, and general property upkeep.

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, can safely operate basic lawn and grounds equipment, and understands the importance of maintaining a respectful, well-kept environment for families and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Mow grass, trim around markers and landscaping, water lawns, tend flower beds, and help maintain the overall appearance of cemetery grounds
• Remove debris, trash, wilted flowers, and other items from the property as needed
• Operate lawn and grounds equipment such as mowers, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, and other basic maintenance tools in a safe and careful manner
• Assist with setup and takedown for graveside services
• Help with opening and closing activities related to interments, entombments, and inurnments as directed
• Assist with locating graves and preparing sites under supervision and according to verification procedures
• Help move and install burial vaults, markers, and related materials as needed
• Perform minor grounds or equipment upkeep as assigned
• Complete maintenance logs and other basic records as needed
• Follow all safety procedures and comply with company policies and applicable OSHA, state, and local regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the cemetery during the summer season

Qualifications

• Ability to work outdoors in summer weather conditions
• Ability to safely use hand tools and grounds equipment, including shovels, rakes, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and leaf blowers
• Ability to read measurements and use basic measuring tools such as tape measures or yard sticks
• Ability to work well with others and follow instructions
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, contractors, and visiting families
• Basic computer skills are helpful but not required for all applicants
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Ability to present a professional appearance and respectful behavior at all times

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift throughout the workday
• Ability to work in a physically active outdoor environment
• Ability to lift and move equipment, supplies, flowers, and other grounds materials as needed
• Ability to work in varying weather and ground conditions during the summer months

Work Environment
This position is primarily outdoors in a cemetery environment. The role involves grounds maintenance, service setup, and regular interaction with grieving families and visitors. Professionalism, empathy, and discretion are important in all aspects of the work.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
