Duties
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in implementing individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility exercises, fostering independence.
- Provide hands-on therapy interventions in various settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits.
- Help develop and modify treatment strategies based on patient progress and therapist guidance.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, safety techniques, and adaptive equipment usage to promote ongoing recovery at home.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive patient care and optimal recovery outcomes.
Qualifications
- Certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) from an accredited program is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
- Experience assisting with ADLs across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Prior work experience in home health, inpatient hospital settings (acute care), skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics or medical imaging environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with care planning processes and ability to adapt interventions for different clinical environments such as outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to supporting individuals through their recovery journey.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
