Requirements
The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Medical Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patients such as fundus photography, OCTs, color vision testing, pachymetry, visual fields. This position may also be responsible for assisting Ophthalmologists and Optometrists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions as necessary including patient work ups and administering eye medications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for opening and closing diagnostic area, maintaining equipment and rooms in working conditions.
- Performing test based on a physician's orders.
- Perform visual field testing: Humphrey
- Perform OCT testing
- Fundus Photography
- External Photography
- Corneal Topography: Atlas and Pentacam
- Timely, accurately and efficient transferring test results into electronic medical records.
- Update patient records using high level of proficiency within the EMS or other related system.
- Comply with all HIPPA regulations in all interactions with patient information
- Other related duties as assigned
Position/Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time 5 day a week on-site position. Shift may be assigned to cover any weekday (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Shift will be assigned a minimum of two weeks in advance.
- Potential for evening hours to support business needs.
Travel:
- Travel to other locations to support business needs may be required. Employees are reimbursed for travel time and mileage based on IRS mileage reimbursement rates.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year in Optical or Ophthalmology practice required.
