At our newest clinic location in St. Pete, we are looking to add to our growing team!

The hiring bonus will be distributed over 10 pay periods. The bonus will be subject to repayment if the employee’s tenure is less than six months. 

Compensation commensurate with experience, certifications and onsite skills assessment. 

Requirements

The Ophthalmic Scribe is responsible for supporting the physician by preparing exam room and appropriate equipment, preparing patients for provider examination by performing and recording appropriate diagnostics, reviewing and recording patient medical history, accurately scribing all patient encounters including consultations and/or discussions with approved family members, referring providers, and or PCP, documenting the patient encounter, and coordinating patient care as directed by the treating provider to allow for proper diagnosis and treatment of patients’ conditions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Perform and record results of basic ocular screening and patient history including Manual refractions, Lensometry, Tonometry, Visual Fields, OCTs, Amsler grids, Muscle Testing, Pupil Exams, Topography
• Assist in the efficient movement/flow of patients through sequence and evaluation.
• Medically assist the doctor through the patient examination.
• Scribe and document for the doctor.
• Prepare examination rooms to provide all needed medications, forms, consents and educational materials.
• Coordinate special testing needs with technicians and surgical needs with the surgical counselors.
• Create a sterile environment using sterile technique.
• Assist doctor with patient calls, pharmacy calls, etc; return all patient phone calls the same day received.
• Communicate all doctor instructions to patients and/or other doctors’ offices as directed; fax reports, letters, post op visits, etc., to referring doctors.
• Provide assistance to other clinic personnel as needed.

Position/Type/Expected Hours of Work:

•  This is a full-time 5 day a week on-site position. Shift may be assigned to cover any weekday (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Shift will be assigned a minimum of two weeks in advance. 
• Potential for evening hours to support business needs.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year experience working as an ophthalmic scribe
• Ability to navigate EHR software system
• Working knowledge of ophthalmic and medication terminology, equipment and CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Working knowledge of basic Ocular anatomy
• Certification preferred by not required
• Skills and Abilities:
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Proven quality experience as demonstrated through historical work/achievements
• Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
• Highly developed organizational skills; comfortable working under time sensitive deadlines
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, and Word
