Play Therapist

Clear River Counseling & Wellness is seeking a passionate and experienced Play Therapist to join our private practice in Melissa, TX. This role is ideal for someone deeply grounded in child development and play therapy interventions, who is eager to work in a flexible and supportive environment.

Clear River Counseling & Wellness is a group private practice located in Melissa, TX. We specialize in treating PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and communication challenges across the lifespan. Our therapists are trained in evidence-based modalities including EMDR, ART, CPT, ACT, NET, and SFBT. We proudly support military members, veterans, and first responders, offering trauma-informed care in a compassionate and collaborative setting where both clients and clinicians feel seen, supported, and empowered.

As a Play Therapist at Clear River Counseling & Wellness, you will provide individual therapy to children ages 3–12 using evidence-based and developmentally appropriate interventions. You'll collaborate with families, create individualized treatment plans, and document clinical progress with care. The ideal candidate brings a trauma-informed lens, has experience in child and adolescent therapy, and is excited to contribute to a growing, collaborative practice that values clinician well-being just as much as client outcomes.

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
• Fully licensed in the state of Texas (LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
• 1–2 years of experience providing therapy to children ages 3–12
• Specialized training or experience in play therapy techniques
• Ability to work independently while engaging in a team-centered environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Certified Play Therapist (CPT) or working toward certification
• Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) training
• Filial Therapy or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
• Expressive Arts Therapy, Music or Art Therapy
• RPT certification is not required but preferred

• Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Provide play-based therapy for children in a private practice setting
• Accurately document treatment goals, progress, and clinical notes in a timely manner
• Coordinate care with parents, schools, and other providers as needed
• Maintain a consistent weekly caseload (24–28 sessions per week preferred)
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and peer consultation
• Represent Clear River Counseling & Wellness with professionalism and compassion
• Provide occasional evening availability to accommodate family schedules
