Clear River Counseling & Wellness is a group private practice located in Melissa, TX. We specialize in treating PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and communication challenges across the lifespan. Our therapists are trained in evidence-based modalities including EMDR, ART, CPT, ACT, NET, and SFBT. As a Play Therapist at Clear River Counseling & Wellness, you will provide individual therapy to children ages 3–12 using evidence-based and developmentally appropriate interventions. You'll collaborate with families, create individualized treatment plans, and document clinical progress with care. The ideal candidate brings a trauma-informed lens, has experience in child and adolescent therapy, and is excited to contribute to a growing, collaborative practice that values clinician well-being just as much as client outcomes.
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
- Fully licensed in the state of Texas (LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
- 1–2 years of experience providing therapy to children ages 3–12
- Specialized training or experience in play therapy techniques
- Ability to work independently while engaging in a team-centered environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Certified Play Therapist (CPT) or working toward certification
- Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) training
- Filial Therapy or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
- Expressive Arts Therapy, Music or Art Therapy
- RPT certification is not required but preferred
- Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide play-based therapy for children in a private practice setting
- Accurately document treatment goals, progress, and clinical notes in a timely manner
- Coordinate care with parents, schools, and other providers as needed
- Maintain a consistent weekly caseload (24–28 sessions per week preferred)
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and peer consultation
- Represent Clear River Counseling & Wellness with professionalism and compassion
- Provide occasional evening availability to accommodate family schedules
- Hybrid work environment with flexible, non-linear scheduling — therapists are in-office ~70% of the week, with room to adjust for school pickups, appointments, and commute preferences
