JOB TITLE: Banking Credit Analyst
REPORTS TO: Senior Credit Analyst
LOCATION: Abilene, Texas
FLSA CLASS: Non-Exempt, Hourly
BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY:
The Credit Analyst is responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of loan applicants and managing credit risk for the bank. They evaluate commercial and consumer loan applications, analyze financial data, and make recommendations regarding credit decisions. This role involves thorough financial analysis, risk assessment, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Duties, Skills, Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Evaluate borrowers' ability to repay loans based on financial metrics and projections.
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to assess creditworthiness.
- Assess risk associated with various loan types including commercial, consumer, and mortgage loans.
- Conduct industry and market analysis to understand economic impacts on borrowers.
- Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and recommendations for loan approvals.
- Collaborate with loan officers and underwriters to gather necessary information.
- Monitor loan portfolios for potential credit risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct financial statement spreading and analysis for loan customers.
- Perform underwriting duties including trend analysis and collateral assessment.
- Advise lending officers on regulatory and policy compliance.
- Conduct loan reviews and stress test analysis.
- Assist with risk management functions and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Evaluate loan structures and identify potential credit quality problems.
- Maintain relationships with loan officers and provide guidance for development.
- Prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations for management.
- Undertake additional tasks assigned by Management to support departmental functions.
- Must comply with all bank policies and procedures that are job related and/or consistent with business necessity.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent Excel organizational and prioritizing skills
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Flexibility to deal with interruptions, changing priorities, and deadlines.
- Good command of credit related financial modeling and analysis techniques.
- Ability to read and understand regulations, policies, and procedures.
- High-level professionalism and interpersonal skills including courtesy, tact, and diplomacy as giving and obtaining information may require discussion of a sensitive or personal nature.
