What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Maintenance Technician Trainee position at Clean Water Services?

- Adheres to safety policies and procedures. May assist staff with confined space entry process by gathering tools and monitoring instruments.
- Assists in performing scheduled preventive maintenance; calibrates and/or services equipment according to manufacturer O&M manuals, plans, and specifications. Maintains records of maintenance performed.
- Learns to monitor equipment and perform inspections; troubleshoot, diagnose and address issues; schedule repairs; perform general housekeeping tasks.
- Learns to install, repair, replace and modify pumps, controllers, bearings, seals, hydraulic pipes, and timing devices.
- Trains in using a variety of power and hand tools, cutting, and welding equipment in the treatment facilities and remote pump stations.
- Learns to fully utilize the computerized maintenance management system in accordance with workflow processes.
- Trains in preparing and submitting reports; reviewing parts, materials and equipment requirements and initiating requests.
- Learns to read meters, gauges, and instruments; reports and records any failures or operating difficulties. Cleans, lubricates, and paints equipment.
- Assists in performing corrective maintenance on failed equipment and systems.
- Trains in evaluating equipment, tools and parts; assisting with recommendations for equipment purchases, replacements and repairs; maintaining inventory and supply of replacement parts.
- Drives a CWS or personal vehicle for work related purposes.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position.
Internship with CWS or 6 months experience in a wastewater treatment plant, utility, or related field or 6 months experience using mechanical tools and performing basic maintenance and repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment or mechanical correspondence course, college-level coursework, or trade school in a related field.
Upon selection, candidates must possess and maintain a valid State of Oregon driver’s license.
