Job Description:

Residential & Dining Enterprises provides the highest quality services to members and the community. The Department has an annual operating budget of over $206 million, oversees a 5 million sq. ft. physical plant across the campus, and provides housing for over 12,000 students and serves over 18,000 daily meals. Additionally, R&DE comprises 660 FTE staff across 7 business groups. This is a day shift role, M-F, within normal business hours. Pay is open and based on experience and presented experience through the interview process.

R&DE provides strategic and tactical direction to the business units across R&DE and ensures that consistent practices and policies are deployed across the business units and are in alignment with R&DE’s mission and vision.

JOB PURPOSE:

Manage activities of assigned projects from project initiation through completion with limited guidance; coordinate all technical activities on assigned projects. Work is typically comprised of 100% as a technical contributor.

CORE DUTIES*:

Oversee, coordinate, and perform technical aspects of the project, with guidance of the management of the testing and inspections program of life safety systems, including smoke detectors, exit signs, inverters, and emergency lighting.

Manage daily duties of third-party contracts for urgent repair and troubleshooting of smoke detectors, exit signs, inverters, and emergency lighting systems to ensure optimal functionality.

Ensure the preparation of required project documentation.

Contribute to the communication plan and change management elements.

Document inspection results, maintenance activities, and service reports in accordance with regulatory standards.

Maintain an attic stock of essential life safety supplies to ensure timely replacement and uninterrupted compliance with safety standards.

Coordinate with building managers and third parties for scheduled and unscheduled inspections, testing, and repairs.

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven to ten (7-10) years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Polished written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.

Ability to productively contribute to cross-functional teams.

Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.

Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.

Ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and databases

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk based computer tasks and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Occasionally use a telephone, write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.

Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds or more.

Ability to maintain a valid non-commercial California Driver's license.

Auditory acuity with ability to hear horns and bells.

Visual acuity with ability to determine colors for finishes.

Ability to climb scaffolding, ladders, stairs etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

May work in active laboratories or outdoor environments.

May be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures, be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise > 80dB TWA, allergens/biohazards/chemicals /asbestos, or heavy metals or work on roofs at heights greater than 10 ft.

May drive a vehicle - about 10 hours per week - need a clean MVR for this role

Must wear personal protective equipment as defined/required by job assignments, and dress for clean rooms.

May work extended hours, evenings, and weekends (very unlikely).

WORK STANDARDS:

When conducting university business, must comply with the California Vehicle Code and driving requirements.

Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable policies and procedures, including but not limited to the personnel policies and other policies.

The estimated time driving a golf cart is 5-10 hours per week.

This role requires a background check, a clean MVR, and work verification.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
