POSITION SUMMARY:

Working knowledge of appropriate strategies for reducing behaviors that put students at risk of not graduating from high school. Ability to communicate effectively with students, employees, and community stakeholders.  Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track interventions and strategies. Knowledge of and the ability to analyze data, including that available from the Georgia Department of Education, the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, and from other sources.  An understanding of the multiplicity of social services available in the community to support students at risk academically, attendance concerns, requiring behavior health support, or at risk for homelessness. This position reports to the Deputy Superintendent for Student Support Services or their designee.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the identification, design, and implementation of the community schools framework inclusive of the four pillars: 1) Integrated Student Supports, 2) Expanded and Enriched Learning Time and Opportunities, 3) Family and Community Engagement, and 4) Collaborative Leadership and manages community school daily operations.

 

Communicates and builds relationships with community partners, key-stakeholders and volunteers. Recruits and develops partnership agreements with people and community organizations willing to offer programs and services for students and families at the school in accordance with identified needs. Develops and maintains a school wraparound resource database. Acts as a point person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with the school and help broker new partnerships that are aligned with school goals and needs.

 

Assesses student needs through interviews, surveys, and data to identify additional community resources for center Works with the school community (administrators, teachers, partner agencies, parents, and students) to identify barriers to learning, available resources and gaps, and to develop programming that is community responsive.

 

Facilitates the integration and coordination of site-based services, including programs and services in the areas of academic support services, behavioral support services, and counseling/family support services. Forms partnerships with community agencies aligned with school goals, and bring services into the school (i.e. health, mental health, dental, afterschool, GED, arts etc.) for students and parents.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, Psychology or Human Services from an accredited college or university is required.

 

Minimum three (3) years successful educational experience working with students at any level required; Experience with at-risk students in an educational, non-profit, and/or human services setting preferred.

 

Makes decisions and recommendations that may affect the District.

 

GaPSC certification in Counseling, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services at level 5 or above required.

 

Analytical; supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required.

 

Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel.

 

Requires regular, frequent communication with different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community etc.

 

Responsible for supervising multiple functions with a high-level accountability for effective operation and results. Requires excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

 

Applies, recommends and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of program operations.

 

Constantly responsible for the welfare of others.

 

Normal classroom/school setting.

 

Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day.  Requires some travel for meeting and stakeholder collaboration.

 

NOTE: This is a grade 29, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.

Salary : $78,429 - $95,545
