What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE ORDER CLERK - SUPERIOR COURT position at Clayton County Government?
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to provide clerical support for the Temporary Protection Order (TPO) process, currently being operated by Juvenile Court. Work involves receiving, processing, and recording TPO applications from petitioners; preparing court documents; scheduling court hearings; managing records; and providing copies of official court documents to the public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists petitioners with the TPO application process.
Retrieves case information from the Clerk of Superior and State Courts required to process TPO applications.
Schedules court hearings.
Assists petitioners with court hearings.
Prepares TPOs for the judges’ review.
File stamps court orders.
Transmits case and order information to the required external departments.
Maintains records, spreadsheets, and other documents.
Makes copies and distributes as appropriate.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two years of clerical and/or court experience and/or customer service experience; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.

Tasks require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light to moderate work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and prolonged standing, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds) and occasionally heavy weight (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements:
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.
Environmental Factors:
Essential functions are regularly performed under normal conditions without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
