What are the responsibilities and job description for the parks maintenance worker position at Clayton County Government?
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION:
The purpose of this classification is to prepare, repair, and perform regular maintenance on ball fields, pools, tennis courts, and other park facilities to ensure their cleanliness and safety for use by the residents of Clayton County.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Drags and lines/paints fields for games; maintains soccer fields, pool, and tennis courts. Cuts grass; cuts and trims trees and landscaping; sprays weed killer; operates tractor, weed eater and blower; performs general landscaping work; lays sod; puts down cross ties. Picks up trash and debris at park facilities; cleans restrooms. Performs minor maintenance to include repairing fences and water lines, painting buildings, moving and repairing bleachers, and painting pool and recreational equipment. Checks playground for safety and makes any needed repairs to equipment. Moves soccer goals; repairs soccer net; repairs baseball mounds; replaces base pegs. Cleans swimming pool with acid. Performs carpentry, plumbing, and concrete work. Supervises and oversees work of inmates assisting in parks maintenance; transports inmates to job site. Drives truck and trailer in performing tasks.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED preferred; supplemented by five months previous experience and/or training that includes landscaping maintenance, general maintenance work, and equipment operation; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
