Field Service Technician – Conventional Machine Tools Summary:
Clausing Industrial is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform repairs and maintenance on conventional machine tools, including drill presses, milling machines, engine lathes, saws, and surface grinders. This position requires frequent travel and occasional overnight stays. The role also includes customer training, troubleshooting, and collaboration with engineering to improve machine reliability and service procedures.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
· Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair conventional machine tools, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
· Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
· Disassemble and reassemble machinery for service or rebuild work.
· Perform alignment, calibration, and testing of machine components.
· Identify and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical failures.
· Troubleshoot and repair three-phase, control, and low-voltage circuits.
· Work with variable frequency drives, control relays, and PLC ladder logic.
· Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
· Maintain accurate service documentation and provide detailed reports.
· Train customers on proper operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
· Work independently while maintaining professional communication and representing Clausing Industrial at customer locations.
Requirements:
· Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
· Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
· Experience with variable frequency drives, PLCs, and control systems.
· Ability to use a voltmeter and other test equipment to diagnose electrical issues.
· Must be safety-conscious, self-motivated, and organized.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Must provide own basic hand tools.
· Willingness to travel frequently (3–4 overnight stays per week).
· Maintain a clean, professional appearance and good personal hygiene.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.

Schedule:
· Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
· Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (½-hour lunch)
· Overtime as needed
