Purchasing Agent

Classic Rock Fabrication
Harrisburg, PA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/20/2026 CLOSED ON 8/7/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Classic Rock Fabrication?

Summary

The Purchasing Agent is an execution-focused role responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient material flow from template through fabrication. In this position, you'll play a key role in supporting established purchasing and production systems by performing post-template material checks, executing daily material ordering, managing slab inventory, and maximizing material yield through effective nesting and remnant utilization.

Working closely with Programming, Production, and Finance, you'll help ensure material decisions support production throughput, profitability, and schedule commitments across all Classic Rock locations. While this role does not supervise employees or independently establish purchasing strategy, supplier standards, or pricing models, it has a direct impact on operational success and customer satisfaction.

Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to collaborate effectively within established systems and approval processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute post-template material checks to identify design changes, evaluate remnant availability, and identify nesting and material optimization opportunities that minimize waste and maximize material yield.
  • Perform daily slab and material ordering while monitoring project schedules to ensure materials are available to support fabrication and production timelines.
  • Analyze material usage trends to support daily replenishment and bulk purchasing decisions that reduce costs and improve the availability of high-use products.
  • Coordinate slab purchases with approved vendors, including pricing, lead times, and terms, in accordance with established parameters and budget guidelines.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, evaluating supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and responsiveness, and escalate recommendations when performance falls below established standards.
  • Maintain accurate material pricing, inventory, and purchasing data in Stone Profit Systems (SPS), and verify supplier invoices for accuracy against approved pricing and purchase orders.
  • Monitor material availability, nesting execution, and purchasing activity to support throughput goals and margin expectations tied to $T performance.
  • Collaborate with Programming, Strategic Account Managers, and the VP of Finance to align material purchases with production demands and approved budget objectives.
  • Participate in daily Buffer Management meetings to stay aligned with fabrication and field operations.
  • Coordinate material transfers between facilities, including slabs, remnants, countertops, splash, and sinks.
  • Cross-train with the other Purchasing Agent to provide coverage during absences or periods of increased demand.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by company leadership to support operational goals and initiatives.
