What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Classic Cleaners?
Classic Cleaners is seeking a Director of Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership across three critical areas: production operations, maintenance management, and asset management. This leader will be responsible for the people, systems, equipment, vehicles, facilities, and capital planning that keep our operation reliable today and ready for future growth.
We're looking for someone who can see both the immediate operational need and the system, asset, or leadership issue behind it.
What You'll Lead
- Production Operations: Lead the systems behind production capacity, workflow, quality, labor productivity, scheduling, throughput, and continuous improvement. Develop the Production Manager and department leaders while ensuring the plant consistently meets service and quality expectations.
- Maintenance Management: Provide leadership and oversight of preventive maintenance, repair prioritization, equipment reliability, work-order discipline, parts and vendor management, downtime reduction, and repair-versus-replace decisions.
- Asset Management: Lead the long-term stewardship of production equipment, major building systems, fleet vehicles, and facilities. Maintain asset visibility, assess condition and utilization, plan replacements, prioritize capital investments, and coordinate major installations, relocations, and facility projects.
What Success Looks Like
- Operational Discipline: Use meaningful KPIs, budgets, root-cause problem solving, and clear accountability to improve safety, reliability, cost control, quality, and service—without simply shifting problems from one area to another.
- Growth Readiness: Ensure our operational infrastructure can support acquisitions, relocations, new services, changing capacity needs, and long-term company growth.
- Stronger Leaders and Systems: Build capable managers, repeatable processes, and clear standards so production, maintenance, and asset management become less dependent on constant escalation or individual heroics.
The Leadership Profile
The best leaders do not become the solution to every problem—they build teams and systems that solve problems well.
The Director of Operations will create the structure, leadership, and accountability that allow production, maintenance, and asset management to perform reliably without depending on constant personal intervention. This means developing capable leaders, establishing effective systems, setting clear expectations, and knowing when to step in—and when to empower others to lead.
We're looking for someone who develops people, delegates with confidence, asks thoughtful questions, uses data to make sound decisions, anticipates risk, and follows through on results. This leader brings clarity and accountability to the operation while keeping processes practical, communication direct, and the organization focused on continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- Experience leading a complex production, manufacturing, processing, distribution, industrial service, fleet-intensive, or similarly equipment-dependent operation.
- Experience leading managers and developing frontline or department leadership.
- Working knowledge across production, maintenance, fleet or asset management, capital planning, facilities, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to use KPIs and operational data to identify constraints, improve performance, and create accountability.
- Sound judgment around equipment reliability, repair-versus-replace decisions, capital priorities, and operational risk.
- Ability to move comfortably between strategic planning and hands-on operational problem solving without becoming the bottleneck.
Dry-cleaning experience is not required. Strong operational leadership is.
