As a proud provider under the Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver Program, we specialize in working with children and young adults with developmental, physical, and emotional disabilities. Position Summary
We are currently seeking Respite Caregivers to serve children and families in Dane County under the CLTS Waiver Program. This is a part-time role ( up to 20 hours per week) providing in-home or community-based care for children and young adults with special needs. The caregiver helps offer temporary relief to parents or guardians while ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for the child.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision for children and young adults enrolled in the CLTS program
- Assist with daily routines, including personal hygiene, dressing, light meal prep, and organizing activities
- Engage children in social, recreational, and community integration activities based on their interests and ability levels
- Encourage the development of life skills, independence, and positive behavior
- Follow individualized care and service plans tailored to each child’s needs
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
- Document activities, behavior, and any incidents during care sessions
- Communicate clearly with parents/guardians and Class Home Care staff
Schedule
- Up to 20 hours per week, flexible
- Schedule typically includes weekday afternoons/evenings and may include occasional weekends
- Specific hours based on family needs and caregiver availability
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or behavioral needs, is strongly preferred
- Ability to support children with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, or physical limitations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and care plans
- Reliable transportation and the ability to pass caregiver background checks and screenings
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the CLTS Waiver Program
- Experience supporting community participation, learning activities, and positive behavioral strategies
- Ability to adapt to different communication styles or sensory needs
