Job Skills / Requirements
Role:
Lead, coach, mentor and direct the operations of the retail branch to ensure that organizational, financial, operational, service, and growth plans are met. Follow established procedures to plan, direct and promote a sales environment while managing the daily retail activities of the branch. Provide support and guidance through on-going training and coaching of branch personnel to effectively motivate staff to cross-sell and continuously work to exceed member expectations. Be knowledgeable of all products and services the Credit Union offers and provide the member with the necessary information to make an informed financial decision. Demonstrate teamwork through positive interactions with co-workers and other departments, and maintain open lines of communication with the management team.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, schedule, monitor and review the work of branch personnel; allocate resources to meet operational needs within the branch; develop staff to ensure thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all credit union products and services in order to effectively cross-sell them; assess performance and take corrective actions where needed; conduct timely performance evaluations.
- Ensure branch personnel work together to achieve the Credit Union’s objectives; monitor branch operating results relative to established goals; track assigned goals and coach staff to exceed those goals.
- Serve as the Credit Union’s financial education ambassador by developing relationships with local schools, universities and community partner organizations; work with sponsor groups to promote credit union membership and benefits to their employees.
- Maintain communication with senior management; prepare and submit standard reports; and attend scheduled management meetings. Formulate recommendations for personnel, facilities and operational changes to management.
- Assist and advise staff regarding policies and procedures for all member service functions; monitor all branch activities to ensure they are in compliance with established Credit Union policies and procedures.
Expectations:
- Ensure Credit Union policies and procedures are being followed with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain a cohesive, highly trained, motivated staff sufficient to meet daily branch demands which may include evening and/or Saturday operations.
- Provide knowledgeable, professional and efficient service and support to all members and associates.
- Effectively evaluate the efficiency of the branch and develop specific recommendations for improvements to personnel, facilities, products, pricing, policies and processes.
- Promote a sales culture within the branch by example. Coach and develop employees to identify cross sales opportunities while continuously providing exceptional member service.
- Note observations of employee performance. Give and receive feedback from employee on the same, completing performance reviews within the prescribed timeframe.
- Act as Credit Union contact with select employer groups and community partner organizations to promote Class Act products and services.
- Identify opportunities to work in partnership with schools and community organizations to increase knowledge of basic personal finance and other consumer related information that promotes financial self-sufficiency among targeted markets.
- Ensure recovery of all critical branch functions for business contingency within recovery times set by business constraints or disaster recovery plan.
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned which are commensurate with the position and in the best interest of the Credit Union.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three to five years supervisory experience in Financial Institution is required.
Education: A four year college degree with emphasis in Management, Marketing or Business related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of this job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of this position. Requires the ability to maintain a highly motivated, well trained staff through effective employee relations. Successful candidate’s performance should demonstrate accuracy, efficiency and flexibility in responding to varied deadlines and work assignments. Must possess mental alertness, neatness in appearance, punctuality, dependability, and a cooperative attitude in relations with members and other employees.
Other Skills: Thorough knowledge of credit union policies and procedures. Possess excellent communication skills, proven leadership and organizational skills, and be self motivated. Must be bondable.
