What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiologic Technologist, Mammography/MRI Advancement position at Clarke County Hospital?
Patient Care
- Performs various general X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, and DEXA exams on patients while conforming to established department techniques and procedures.
- Establishes patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
- Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors, and proper usage of identification markers.
- Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Performs venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Maintains, and/or removes intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Identifies, prepares, and/or administers contrast agents as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Corroborates a patient's clinical history with procedure and ensures information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.

- Maintains necessary departmental files, reports, and records of diagnostic examinations performed, according to hospital policies.
- Develops a proactive mind-set towards the job. Observes opportunities for improvement, formulates ideas, and communicates those ideas with their supervisor and/or other staff, and implements work habits that lead to continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service through quality improvement audits and activities.
- Displays a high level of initiative, works with minimal supervision, demonstrates responsible behavior and has excellent attention to detail.
- Performs other duties as directed by the department manager.
Qualifications
Experience: Required: Radiography. Preferred: CT or Mammography experience or willing to train.
Licenses & Certifications: Required: State of Iowa Permit to Operate Radiation Machines. ARRT (R)
Schedule: Mon-Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Occasional call
Weekend: 1 weekend every 4 months
Holiday Rotation: 1-2 holidays per year
