Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on secondary roads, including pothole patching, gravel spreading, and surface repairs to ensure smooth travel conditions.
- Install, repair, and replace traffic signs, signals, and pavement markings in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain drainage systems by cleaning culverts, ditches, and stormwater facilities to prevent flooding and water damage.
- Operate a variety of equipment such as trucks, loaders, mowers, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Conduct inspections of roadway conditions, identify hazards or needed repairs, and document findings for reporting purposes.
- Assist with snow removal operations during winter months to keep roads accessible and safe for travelers.
- Support team members through mentoring on safety procedures and best practices for roadway maintenance.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety protocols.
- Experience operating construction or maintenance equipment such as trucks, loaders, or mowers is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and report issues clearly.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics useful for measuring distances and angles during repairs.
