Position Summary
The Army Instructor supports the Senior Army Instructor in delivering the Army JROTC curriculum and managing the daily operation of the unit. The AI provides classroom instruction, supervises cadet activities, assists with administrative and logistical requirements, and promotes the JROTC mission of developing citizenship, leadership, and personal responsibility.

Core Responsibilities
- Instructional Support
- Teach assigned portions of the JROTC curriculum in accordance with U.S. Army Cadet Command standards.
- Assist in developing cadet skills in citizenship, leadership, self-discipline, communication, and physical fitness.
- Support lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment of cadet learning.
- Cadet Leadership & Development
- Mentor cadets in leadership roles and support the cadet chain of command.
- Assist with cadet appointments, promotions, and demotions following approved Standard Operating Procedures.
- Supervise cadets during drill, ceremonies, physical training, and co-curricular activities.
- Extracurricular Teams & Activities
- Support teams such as drill, Raider, academic, color guard, and service-learning groups.
- Accompany cadets to competitions, community events, and field training activities as required.
- Administrative & Logistical Duties
- Assist the SAI with maintaining accountability of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Help prepare required reports, maintain cadet records, and support inspections.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of unit SOPs.
- School & Community Engagement
- Promote positive relationships with students, parents, school staff, and community partners.
- Support school-wide initiatives and represent the JROTC program at events.
- Military Background
- Retired U.S. Army Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) or Warrant Officer meeting Army JROTC instructor certification requirements.
- Must satisfy all Cadet Command standards for certification, conduct, and fitness.
- Education & Professional Requirements
- High school diploma required; many districts prefer some college coursework.
- Must obtain and maintain Army JROTC instructor certification.
- Must pass required background checks.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Effective communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the SAI, school staff, and community.
- Organizational skills for managing cadet activities, records, and logistics.
- Reports directly to the Senior Army Instructor.
- Works under the supervision of the school principal or designated administrator.
