Clark Hill PLC is seeking a Manager of Government Affairs to work in the firm’s advocacy subsidiary, Clark Hill Public Strategies (CHPS). The position is in-person based in the Washington, D.C. office. A JD is NOT required for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
Client Advocacy (70% of time)
In addition to the client advocacy portion of the job, you will also assist the CHPS policy analyst team in their work. This will consist of tracking and summarizing legislative and regulatory developments; writing public comments; drafting public testimony; drafting proposed regulatory and legislative language; and assisting with other research, analysis, and writing tasks, as needed. Finally, the position will require some time devoted to miscellaneous other tasks, including attending internal meetings; drafting through leadership; assisting in business development; and completing general administrative tasks, as needed. These tasks require someone with excellent writing skills, including both the ability to write about complex ideas clearly and concisely, and to write in highly technical language.
The compensation range at the time of posting is $70,000 to $90,000.

- Attend and lead lobbying meetings
- Schedule lobbying meetings
- Attend strategy meetings with clients Policy Analysis (15% of time)
- Draft update memos for clients
- Track policy developments
- Draft relevant policy documents, to include public comments, legislative/regulatory language, enforcement policy, etc. Miscellaneous (15% of time)
- Attend internal team meetings
- Draft thought leadership & public firm alerts
- Develop new business, to include drafting proposals, preparing client pitches, and attending networking events
- Complete general administrative tasks (assemble packets, maintain internal tracking documents, etc.)

Requirements
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Ability to balance competing priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of the policy processes of the U.S. Federal government, especially the U.S. Congress
- Excellent interpersonal and ‘soft’ skills and a willingness to spend many days liaising with clients and government stakeholders
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in public policy. We prefer experience working at the federal level in the United States, especially in a Congressional office.
- Ability to process and summarize complex regulatory developments
