Technical Documentation Specialist

We are working with our client to locate a Technical Documentation Specialist to support the organization of technical documentation and the implementation of a new Documentation Management System (DMS). This consultant will play a key role in cleaning up existing documentation, developing standard operating procedures, and helping establish consistent documentation standards before and after the DMS launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean up and organize documentation within SharePoint.
• Archive, remove, and reorganize outdated or duplicate documentation.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures.
• Support the implementation and ongoing management of a Documentation Management System (DMS).
• Review submitted documentation for clarity, formatting, accuracy, and image quality.
• Provide constructive feedback to document authors to ensure documentation meets established standards.
• Apply metadata and tagging standards to documentation prior to DMS launch.
• Help establish consistent documentation processes and workplace standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve documentation quality and usability.

Start Date: Late August

Duration: Initial 3-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension

Hours: 20-25 hours per week initially, ramping up to 35-40 hours per week; must be available during core business hours

Location: Virtual

Experience Required:

• Experience as a Technical Writer, Documentation Specialist, or similar role.
• Strong copyediting and proofreading skills.
• Experience organizing and maintaining documentation repositories.
• Experience developing SOPs or process documentation.
• Experience supporting the implementation or administration of a Documentation Management System (DMS).
• Experience applying metadata, taxonomy, or document tagging standards.
• Knowledge of documentation standards and workplace standardization.
• Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Excellent written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables and consistently meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote consulting environment.
• A background check required if selected

The pay range for this is $45.00 to $55.00 per hour. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, relevant education, certifications and specific work location.
