Position Summary
The Inventory Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all agency-wide inventory operations, including supply procurement, receipt, storage, distribution, and tracking. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely availability of supplies, cost effectiveness, and full compliance with agency policies, audit standards, and funding requirements.
Inventory Manager plays a critical role in supporting program operations by maintaining consistent, reliable, and accountable inventory systems across all locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Operations & Asset Management
- Oversee all agency-wide inventory functions including receipt, storage, tracking, and distribution
- Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accuracy and accountability
- Maintain physical and digital inventory systems with real-time updates
Audits & Compliance:
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory audits across all sites including offsite storage
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, safety standards, audit and funding requirements
Procurement & Cost Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely procurement
-Analyze and report product utilization trends and associated cost
- Review pricing and product value, evaluate vendors, and negotiate contracts when necessary
Supervision & Training:
- Supervise Stock Clerks and coordinate daily workflow
- Develop and implement training for inventory staff
-Provide supervision, goal setting, and ongoing training to team members
- Ensure adequate coverage for inventory management and stocking demands
Collaboration & Planning:
- Collaborate with department heads to assess supply needs
- Adjust inventory plans based on program demand
-Serve as liaison with between inventory/asset management and program management
- Provide operational updates, including recurring reports of performance metrics
-Release formal communications regarding protocols and procedures
-Collaborate with other Departments on the development of policies and procedures related to inventory and asset management
Quality & Performance Improvement:
- Monitor metrics related to par levels, cost savings, utilization trends, stock discrepancies, and service effectiveness
- Identify process improvements
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; degree preferred
-Minimum of one year managing employees
- Experience in inventory management, and asset tracking
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Experience with inventory systems and audits
- Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple priorities
- Valid Class C Driver’s License required
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends during on occasion to address inclement weather or environmental emergencies
- Advanced computer skills are required. (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
