What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at CKM INDUSTRIES INC?
We are currently seeking experienced Pipe Welders to join our team. Candidates must be capable of performing high-quality pipe welding in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, and project requirements.
Primary Responsibilities and Key Deliverables
• Perform GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and/or FCAW welding on carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe
• Read and interpret isometric drawings, spool sheets, and welding procedures
• Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• Fit-up and weld process piping systems
• Maintain weld quality in accordance with American Society of Mechanical Engineers, project specifications and applicable codes
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures and site-specific safety requirements
• Work with fitters, supervisors, and QA/QC personnel to complete projects efficiently
• Meet production schedules and quality standards
• Maintain welding qualifications and continuity records as required
• Work safely in a fabrication shop and/or field environment
Required Skills and Competencies
• Minimum 3–5 years of pipe welding experience preferred
• Must pass a pipe weld test (typically 6G)
• Experience with stainless steel, particularly titanium, and carbon steel piping
• Ability to weld Schedule 10 through heavy wall pipe
• Familiarity with American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section IX welding requirements preferred
• Ability to read blueprints and isometric drawings
• Reliable transportation and strong work ethic required
Minimum Education and Experience
• Process piping
• Pressure vessels/storage tanks
• Refinery or chemical plant work
• Field installation and turnaround work
• Acceptable MVR/Background Check and pass pre-employment screenings
• Valid TWIC Card
Work Environment
• Availability to work a variety of shifts when needed. If requested, work overtime, and respond to emergency callouts whenever they occur. Work days, nights, and weekends and or holidays. Travel to customers and other Miller sites as needed.
• Ability to work in a refinery with loud, hazardous conditions, potentially hazardous chemicals and industrial settings.
• Working in various temperatures and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced turnaround environment.
