Job Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and a strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors. The CFO is responsible for the overall financial health, sustainability, and strategic financial direction of CK Family Services.
This role goes beyond financial management and reporting. The CFO will lead long-term financial strategies, support organizational growth, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide data-driven insights that guide decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute long-term financial strategies that support organizational growth and sustainability
- Provide financial insight and modeling to support strategic initiatives, program expansion, and new opportunities
- Lead scenario planning and forecasting to assess financial impact of key decisions
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board on financial risks, opportunities, and sustainability
Financial Management and Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of all financial systems and reporting
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
Budgeting, Forecasting and Decision Support
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with program and department leaders
- Monitor financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Develop and maintain dynamic financial models to support planning and decision-making
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable recommendations for non-financial stakeholders
Regulatory Compliance and Contract Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations
- Oversee audits, tax filings, and required reporting
- Manage financial aspects of government contracts, including DFPS and other funding sources
- Oversee cost reporting and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
Case Flow and Financial Sustainability
- Oversee cash flow management, liquidity planning, and financial sustainability strategies
- Monitor revenue cycles, reimbursement processes, and collections to ensure operational stability
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial performance and long-term viability
Organizational Leadership and Culture
- Serve as a collaborative leader within the executive team, contributing to overall organizational strategy and culture
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and mission alignment
- Support leaders across the organization with financial guidance and education
Board Relations and External Partnerships
- Partner with the CEO in engaging the Board of Directors on financial matters
- Present clear, strategic financial reports and insights to the Board
- Build and maintain relationships with auditors, banks, and external partners
- Representing the organization in financial and community settings as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including senior-level responsibility
- Experience in nonprofit financial management a plus; experience with government-funded programs strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and organizational growth
- Experience working with complex or multi-entity organizations is a plus

- Perform the physical demands of the position –
- Ability to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a small amount of force continuously to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including people. Work can be done while sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required occasionally.
- Ability to walk frequently; stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; squat occasionally, climb stairs infrequently, and kneel and twist as needed.
- Sufficient good health to properly fulfill all role responsibilities. Employees shall not be permitted to work with infectious diseases or skin lesions for the duration of communicability.
- Ability to perform moderately difficult manipulation such as writing, typing, foot, and hand-eye coordination required.
