Plant Controller | Market Leader | Basic Materials Manufacturing

CK Accounting Search, LLC has a phenomenal opportunity to join a market leading manufacturer in their Goodyear, AZ facility as a plant controller! This would be an exceptional role for a manufacturing controller coming from a smaller company who is interested in stepping up professionally into a $750mm corporation with plants throughout the Americas.

This role will be the sole financial leader for this facility and therefore will work closely with all other functional leaders at the plant, including HR. Due to this, the successfull person in this role will function with a high degree of ethical judgement and confidentiality.

This role has a dual reporting relationship to the Director & Business Unit Controller and to the Plant Manager.

What you will be doing:

The Plant Controller will serve as a key business partner to operations, driving performance, improving processes, and helping shape the future of their facility. This is more than a traditional accounting role. It's an opportunity to influence decision making, lead financial strategy at the plant level, and play a critical role in operational success.

• Supervise and direct the ongoing activities associated with daily accounting procedures, the monthly close process, and the annual close within our Oracle, FCCS and PBCS accounting software.
• Prepare annual and monthly budgets/forecasts and related financial analyses.
• Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions including customer invoicing, cash application, P.O. and vendor invoice processing, receipt of goods and related activities, review, approve and set up new vendors and account codes.
• Responsible for all local cash management.
• Reconcile material flow from receipts, through the production process to finished goods and then to the customers.
• In adherence with company policy co-lead biannual physical inventory and oversee quarterly spare parts inventory.
• Prepare monthly and annual sales and use taxes, including monthly WA B&O tax.
• Assist in the preparation of all ACR/AFE’s for capital improvement projects and submit it for approval. Role is also responsible for auditing, tracking, and reporting the project spend and KPI’s.
• Assist with activities for plant and corporate internal, government, and banking audits.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training direct reports; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Assist in operational and accounting policy and procedure writing.
• Assist in plant productivity activities by using standard calculations and reporting for the plant savings initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 3 years’ experience in a similar finance or controller role. An advanced degree is a plus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and other MS Office software. Experience in Oracle/Oracle Cloud a plus
• Proven ability to function with minimal supervision while also leading others toward plant and company goals. Results and detail oriented.
• Creativity and openness for implementation of new procedures or programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Willingness to be part of a team mentality and approach for the north American business unit.
• Ability to plan and organize effectively and efficiently to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Some occasional travel may be required. (5%)
