What are the responsibilities and job description for the Western Region Safety Manager position at CJ Drilling, Inc.?
CJD Civil Construction, a national provider of Drilled Shaft Foundations, Heavy Hauling, Civil Construction and Rebar Fabrication, to the Electrical, Transportation, Railroad and Building trades, has an opening for an experienced Project Safety Manager to support multiple construction projects in the Western US Region. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Company, State, Federal and Client Safety requirements, provide the knowledge and skills to help generate a positive safety culture and to ensure that occupational risk is properly controlled.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in controlling hazardous work conditions and unsafe work practices through interface with project management and field supervisors
- Assist Project Managers and Field Supervisors in assuring a safe work place
- Conduct regular safety inspections of construction activities to determine compliance
- Complete and document inspections in a timely manner and document corrective actions
- Provide new employee safety orientation and other in-house training
- Investigate any accident, incident and near-miss occurring on the job site and complete documentation on a timely basis
- Conduct pre-construction surveys to identify hazards
- Attend project safety and progress meetings as required by the customer
- Perform special projects and completes other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the project
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years of construction safety experience with field experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly verbally and in writing
- Understanding of safety work rules and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations, NEC, NFPA and ANSI Standards for construction
- Basic understanding of claims management and workers’ compensation reporting requirements
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Position includes a company vehicle, therefore a valid driver's license is required
- Overnight travel is required up to 60%
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- 2-5 Years Construction Field Safety Experience
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training
- OSHA 500 Construction Trainer is a plus
- First Aid / CPR Instructor is a plus
