Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine nutritional needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Provide expert guidance on nutrition therapy, including tube feeding and specialized diets for various medical conditions.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as necessary to meet health goals.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate nutrition into overall treatment strategies, especially in acute care and long-term care settings.
- Educate patients on healthy eating habits, weight loss strategies, and lifestyle modifications through health coaching sessions.
- Supervise dietary department staff and oversee the implementation of nutrition protocols.
- Document all interventions and patient progress accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Stay current with advances in dietetics, physiology, and medical nutrition therapy to ensure evidence-based practice.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations related to nutritional status and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Registered Dietitian in hospital or healthcare environments is preferred.
- Experience with long-term care facilities, geriatrics, or acute care settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing tube feeding protocols and developing comprehensive care plans for diverse populations.
- Supervisory experience overseeing dietary staff or programs is a plus.
- Familiarity with EMR systems used for documentation and patient management is required.
- Knowledge of weight loss programs, patient assessment techniques, and dietary management for chronic conditions such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease is beneficial.
- Prior experience working with diagnostic evaluation processes related to nutrition and metabolism is advantageous.
