About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Network (Fiber) Technician to be an important part of our Fiber Engineering team. The Field Network (Fiber) Technician will be responsible for field fiber splicing, testing, verification and certification in outdoor enclosures and network device implementation and support. The Network Engineering Department team is responsible for network design, operations, and maintenance of our network. To be successful in this role you will have an understanding of fiber optic network operations and the tools to test and certify those networks as well as familiarity with network hardware. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the Company’s objectives. To be successful you will have superior communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand Cityside Fiber’s core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do
• Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber
• Perform initial splicing, testing, and certification of the fiber optic network.
• Assist with installation and configuration of network equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Perform network and fiber maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting in the field.
• Work with customers to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems.
• Document and track network repairs, and upgrades.
• Provide on-site technical support for customers.
• Conduct site surveys and network assessments

Minimum Qualifications

• High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry
• Associates Degree in Technology or Engineering or equivalent practical experience

• 1-2 years of experience in telecommunications industry or related field
• Experience communicating to and collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Proven history of excellent customer service and ability to build relationships
• Excellent organizational skills- Ability to multi-task and be highly responsive to internal and external clients
• Demonstrated intense customer focus
• Demonstrated highest level of integrity, intellectual honesty and strong work ethic
• Takes initiative. Doesn’t wait to be asked. Plans efficiently while avoiding analysis paralysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven history of splicing and testing fiber network
• Proven history of maintaining fiber network
• Substantial experience in installing and configuring network equipment
• Strong knowledge of the fiber internet market and technology trends
• Sharp, analytical, and thoughtful. Has sound judgment and ability to be right a lot
• Consistent effort, intense commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond when needed
• Strong team player, acts like an owner, and ultimately focused on delivering results with high standards
• Experience with DC power is a plus
• Proficiency in fiber mapping and schematic reading
• Proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office
• Valid Driver’s License

Location

This location is based out of our Irvine, CA offices. May be required to travel to project/customer sites to fulfill job responsibilities.
