Job Summary:
This is a supervisory maintenance position with primary responsibility for daily operation of the department pertaining to scheduling, monitoring and completion of daily work assignments. Requires computer input and generation of daily reports. Requires good interpersonal relations skills, technical knowledge of sound management principles relating to transit and building maintenance. Requires exposure to cold, heat, dust, fumes, cleaning agents, chemicals, and rain on a varying basis
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Schedule and assign daily work to individuals in the proper job classification to perform the required task. Execute and monitor the Preventative Maintenance and Quality Control Programs.
- Perform activities that require reaching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, bending, standing, sitting and good flexibility. Capable of performing work that may require lifting approx. 100 pounds.
- Read and comprehend all written District procedures, training materials, warning labels and basic written and verbal instructions and repair manual and schematics.
- Must possess good management and communication skills to lead, direct, coach, counsel, discipline, and supervise others in the performance of their jobs.
- Use computer for maintenance information purposes and work order generation.
- Prepare all forms necessary to assure orderly, accurate records on the fleet, facilities, and other activities related to the Maintenance Department.
- Inspect and monitor job performance of maintenance personnel. Counsel as necessary.
- Communicate to the Director of Maintenance situations concerning procedures, facilities, equipment, and personnel that need special attention.
- Make recommendations for changes to procedures and/or processes in the Maintenance Department to improve effectiveness
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Have 5 years verifiable experience working in the maintenance of heavy-duty buses and/or trucks
- Possess good understanding of Preventive Maintenance Inspection procedures and all repairs related to maintaining heavy duty buses and/or trucks and building and grounds
- Possess a valid Class A CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements for at least 2 years with a safe operating record
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Duties performed primarily in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer most of the time. Occasional walking and standing.
- Requires stooping, reaching, bending, and lifting of office supplies and equipment.
- Exerting up to 25 pounds of force for lifting and/or pushing, occasionally.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
License:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
General Working Hours:
- Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30 pm.
