Overview and Minimum Class Requirements
MINIMUM CLASS REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. High school diploma (or G.E.D.) and experience in golfing, retail or other customer service experience is preferred.
Must pass background investigation regarding applicant’s aptitude, character, judgement, and criminal history.
LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND CERTIFICATE
Standard First Aid and CPR highly recommended.
Job Summary
Under the general supervision and direction of the Recreation Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing customer service to golf course patrons. Works to assist Golf Course Attendant as necessary to support public play and operations at Fisher Golf Course.
Essential Functions
This is a support position at the golf course. Position is responsible for assisting with scheduling; signaling starts for golfers; collecting green fees; renting and selling clothing, supplies or equipment.
Answers phones; responds to in-person and telephone inquiries; trouble-shoots questions and assists patrons find resolutions or additional resources.
Maintains and clean clubhouse by cleaning floors, windows and restrooms and ensures adequate supplies of restroom materials. Picks up litter and sweeps around clubhouse exterior. Cleans picnic tables and chairs and puts up umbrellas when weather is appropriate.
Operates and drives golf carts on property as necessary to perform duties and/or as assigned. Safely drives and/or operates all motorized vehicles/equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
May need to drive/travel to bank to obtain funds for cash register.
Assists Golf Course Attendant with operational duties and may take other instruction or direction from Recreation Supervisor.
Performs related work as required.
Requires regular reliable and punctual attendance.
Varied work schedule that will include evenings and weekends.
Major Worker Characteristics
Knowledge of City of Yakima policies and procedures and familiarity with golfing rules, etiquette, equipment and safety practices and procedures.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, make change, maintain records, operate cash register, and utilize computer for retail transactions. Must be able to perform manual labor including keeping club house clean and tidy
Must be dependable; able to work independently and as a team player; be self-directed, highly motivated, organized and skilled at meeting deadlines; have a sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner. Must possess ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and demands.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May work inside or outside with all weather extremes, be exposed to animals, insects, pollen, dust, dirt, water, needles, drug paraphernalia, and/or rough terrain. Work involves using hands to handle, feel, grasp, keyboard or operate vehicles/objects, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. Work requires frequent standing and sitting for excessive periods and walking on rough terrain. Occasional bending/stooping/kneeling. Occasional heavy work includes lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. On rare occasions may be required to lift heavier weight with the assistance of others or mechanical devices up to 100 pounds. Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, ladders and other inclines while maintaining balance. Constant use of all senses including feeling/talking/ hearing/seeing while operating/driving vehicles/machinery, performing duties and while communicating with co-workers, general public and completing all tasks as assigned. May work alone or with others. Must be able to distinguish color and maintain long-term and short-term memory. UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Has regular contact with the public who at times may be angry, upset, or demanding. May work evenings, weekends or holidays, split or rotating shifts depending on programs, utilization and activities. Requires work outside during extreme summer weather.
