The City of Worthington is seeking qualified candidates for the position Assistant Building Inspector in the Department of Planning and Building. Under the direction of the Chief Building Inspector, the Assistant Building Inspector will assist in administering the enforcement of the Building and Zoning regulations of the City. The Assistant Building Inspector will perform field inspections to confirm compliance with the approved plans, will review of plans for compliance with building and zoning regulations, will assist in issuing of permits, and may serve as the Alternate Building Official, Alternate Plans Examiner, and Alternate Residential Building Official for the City, as set forth in the Ohio Administrative Code, the Ohio Building Code, and the Residential Code of Ohio. The Assistant Building Inspector will assist the office manager for the Division of Building Regulation and may supervise field inspectors and the Planning and Building Assistant.
Possession of a bachelor’s degree, in engineering, architecture, or related field required. Current certificate of competency or Interim certification with the Ohio Board of Building Standards as a Building Inspector and Residential Building Official Current certificate of competency or Interim certification with the Ohio Board of Building Standards as a Building Official and Building Plans Examiner required within one-year of hire. Current certificate of competency or Interim certification with the Ohio Board of Building Standards as a Master Plans Examiner within four-years of hire. Registered, or the ability to be registered in the State of Ohio as an Architect or Professional Engineer, within four-years of hire.
This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt, classified position with a salary range of $90,824 - $114,329. New hires typically are appointed at step A of the pay range, however training and experience may qualify a candidate for appointment at a higher step within this range.
