HELP WANTED: PUBLIC WORKS LABORER
The City of White Sulphur Springs is accepting applications for a Full Time Laborer in the Public Works Department. This position supports daily operations of all city departments.
Primary Duties Include:
- Mowing & Weed eating throughout city
- Collecting city residents and businesses garbage
- Assisting with repairing water leaks
- Cleaning city owned and operated facilities
- Cleaning streets, plowing snow (seasonal), changing decorations on poles in city
- Cutting and trimming trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation
- Ability to communicate and understand directions
- Ability to work independently or in a group
- Willingness to work in other departments if directed
- Performing additional duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance
- Standing, bending, walking, and stooping throughout the workday
- Ability to work from scaffolding, man lifts, etc.
- Ability to operate different mowers and hand-held equipment (i.e. weed eaters, chainsaws, etc.)
- General manual labor (i.e. shoveling, etc.)
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass pre employment and random drug screenings
- Willingness to obtain certifications if requested
- Willingness to work overtime when needed
- Availability for emergency call outs
- General willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Ability to work cooperatively with all departments
