Job Summary
The Building and Grounds Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of city facilities, ensuring that all grounds are well-kept, functional, and aesthetically pleasing, overseeing the city sewer system operation, overseeing right-of-way maintenance, and city equipment is in working order. This role involves supervising a team of groundskeepers and collaborating with various departments to maintain high standards of landscape management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of maintenance scheduling, landscaping practices, recordkeeping, and maintenance techniques.
Duties
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of landscape maintenance, including lawn care, tree care, and right-of-way maintenance.
- Supervise a team of groundskeepers, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality work.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for equipment, facilities maintenance, and lawn maintenance.
- Operate and maintain records of the city LAS sewer system.
- Oversee and perform:
- minor electrical repairs such as diagnosing electrical failures, replacing ballasts, switches, receptacles, and light bulbs.
- Minor mechanical repairs such as replacing filters, motors, and belts on small equipment.
- Performs minor plumbing repairs such as stopping leaks, replacing facility water lines, washers, and valves.
- Identifies and repairs minor structural damage in City buildings such as door and window trim, roof leak damage, drywall, and paint.
- Operates a city vehicle.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment usage, and inventory management.
- Maintain accurate records of sewer operations and repairs.
- Operates and utilizes various equipment, tools, and supplies associated with facilities maintenance, equipment maintenance, and grounds care.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Supplemented by college level course work or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in building or equipment maintenance.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
