The Radio Engineer will work within the Information Technology’s Unified Communications Division overseeing and supervising the day-to-day operations of the service and maintenance of all equipment associated with a complex digital Motorola 800/700 MHz trunked public safety voice and data radio system with over 5,000 users. Additionally, the individual will supervise radio operation vendors, radio depot; ensure all radio towers meet FCC, FAA, and SHA regulation, and maintain required FCC licenses. The individual will perform software and firmware installations of radio equipment, perform daily radio system checks, obtain, and review quotes for work beyond the normal scope of contracted vendors, prepare change management requests for necessary changes required. Selected candidate will work collaboratively with team members across the organization.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Execute tests and understand station antenna patterns.
Execute detailed network designs, specifications, and architectural plans for radio services.
Create system documentation and floor plans on networks and systems to share across teams.
Design, install, manage, and troubleshoot radio systems and networks.
Possess knowledge and experience of antenna systems and related components such as combiners, multi-couplers, coaxial cabling, and transceivers.
Utilize proper tools to perform measurements of radio system infrastructure.
Troubleshoot complex radio issues.
Determine, test, and validate configurations to be used in the production network for all routers and various Ethernet switches.
Make specific recommendations and assists in implementation of plans that enhance technical operation, compliance with rules and regulations, and permit the deployment of new technology.
Participate in projects with other teams to confirm delivery intervals, validate critical dates and milestones and ensure delivery of services stay on target.
Support deployments of new, systems, applications and architectures with installation, configuration, integration, evaluation, testing, documentation, and training.
Perform design documentation using Microsoft Visio and Power Point.
Proactively identify ways to improve process and procedures; makes recommendations to management.
Share technical knowledge and skills with other team members to develop team members' capabilities.
