What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at City of Virginia Beach?
Join our team as a Maintenance Worker. This position will assist the Bridge Maintenance group of Public Works with the following duties:
· Assist in the maintenance and repair of bridges and culvert structures throughout the City. Repair and or replacement of damaged guardrail systems.
· Occasionally operate light automotive equipment and specialized maintenance equipment, such as concrete saws, jack hammers, sandblasters, acetylene torches, etc.
· Assist with the removal of overgrown vegetation along headwalls, wing walls, and slope protection utilizing such equipment as weed eaters, chain saws, pole saws, and lawn mowers.
· Perform a variety of manual work to complete assigned tasks on bridge structures, culverts, and guardrail systems.
· Perform other job duties requiring the skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less.
· Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.
**Position is ALPHA 1 and is required to work during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes, snow, etc.).**
