The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney is committed to pursuing justice through the fair and ethical prosecution of criminal offenses in the City of Virginia Beach. Our office plays a critical role in ensuring public safety and upholding the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a part-time Legal Information Clerk position. This role requires an individual who are highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to contribute to the effective operation of the criminal justice system. This position will involve covering some front-desk responsibilities, including receptionist duties, opening case files, conducting criminal history checks, and providing additional clerical support as needed (schedule is to be determined). This position will be VCIN/NCIC certified within 3 months of the start date.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Enter and update case-related data in our electronic case management system
• Open criminal and civil case files
• Run criminal histories for new files and upon request
• Generate and review internal reports
• Perform clerical tasks such as copying, scanning, filing, answering phones, and distributing documents
• Follow all office and team policies and procedures
Preferences:
• Academic degree in criminal justice or similar field
• Prior professional experience with a Virginia Court or a Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office
• Background in the criminal justice field
• Familiarity with or certification in NCIC/VCIN for running criminal records
• Proficient data entry skills and attention to data integrity
• Experience working with legal or law enforcement databases and systems (e.g., CMS, eProsecutor, PISTOL, Axon Records)
• Previous clerical experience, including file organization, copying, and phone handling
