The City of Virginia Beach’s Internship Program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to apply and utilize acquired knowledge in field of study.

Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student (in an associate's, bachelor's, master's degree or PhD program) and be in good academic standing as determined by the school, college, or university.
Applications received will be considered for Fall and Winter internship opportunities that become available. We have a variety of departments that may offer internship opportunities in engineering, information technology, library, human resources, business, communications & media relations, as well as finance. Tasks may include working on projects, assisting with day-to-day operations, as well as attending meetings. Our interns often have the opportunity to go on site visits and meet with various stakeholders to learn how the City serves our citizens and tourists.
Photography/ Videography Intern
The Virginia Beach Communications department is a full-service agency providing strategic and tactical communication solutions for citywide departmental-level initiatives. The department is in search of a Multimedia Communications Intern to specialize as a Photography/ Videography Intern.
Duties:
- Assist with photographing and filming City events, programs, and initiatives
- Support video production including filming, editing, lighting, and script development
- Maintain photo and video archives
- Contribute to multimedia storytelling across City platforms.

Required Education: Candidates seeking a degree in Media Production, Digital Media, Film Studies, Journalism, or Communications. Coursework in photography, videography, and editing preferred.
