Your Role
- Join a team that oversees the public facing operations of the Virginia Beach Community Recreation Centers. A position that fosters legendary customer service to internal and external customers, communicates center program information, oversees point of sale systems, and leads a dynamic front line team of Clerk Cashiers. Assist Office Supervisor with all aspects of managing the office and Member Services Desk. Collaborate with team members from various Parks and Recreation units.
- Process financial transactions in database and point of sale systems to include: membership sales, program fees, balance cash drawers, prepare deposits and submit daily financial reports; audit daily revenue collections, detect and correct customer account errors for accurate record keeping along with a variety of administrative tasks.
- Become knowledgeable of our procurement process and offer guidance and assistance to other team members. Create requisitions and purchase orders which may include requests for quotes, audit and process invoices and payment vouchers. Monitor and track expenditures.
- Experience with training staff and/or providing written staff performance feedback
- Nights, early mornings, weekends, and holiday work required.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS:
High school or GED plus two (2) years experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities, such as clerical accounting or bookkeeping; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
May require a passing score of 30 words per minute on a typing test.

Preferences:
- 2 or more years’ experience in providing legendary face to face customer service
- Experience with supervision and leadership of a team

Special Instructions:
This position is being advertised as a pool, and applications will be used to fill current vacancies and any similar Account Clerk II positions that become available within six (6) months from the closing date of this posting.
Requires a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver’s license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.
The position you are applying for is designated as Alpha I, requiring the selected candidate to work, regardless of the City’s operational status.
Must be available to work varied hours (early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays) to facilitate center operations.
Typical weekday schedules are currently eight hours shifts and are between the hours of 4:45 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., and weekend shifts of 8:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work location and/or schedules may change based on operational needs.

As a condition of employment, all full-time employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided your training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. When an exemption is permittable, a hybrid version of the training is available, but will require training attendance on a weekend.
