Under general supervision, the Solid Waste Driver operates a truck and loader along established routes to collect solid waste for the City of Victoria.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Follows assigned route to collect solid waste; operates a rear loader vehicle to collect (green) yard waste.
- Identifies and tags receptacles that are not in compliance with collection policies; collects out of service carts for repair or replacement.
- Cleans and sanitizes trucks; performs minor maintenance as needed; completes daily paperwork.
- Participates in cleaning and maintaining the shop and breakroom.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
- Other Duties: Perform all additional job-related tasks as required or as they arise.
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Two (2) years of driving experience; OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess a Texas Class B driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement or obtain license within six (6) months of hire.
- Applicable local, state, federal laws and ordinances.
- Records maintenance and retention practices.
- Customer services principles, practices, and etiquette.
- Work safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Following written and verbal instructions.
- Organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines.
- Maintaining accurate logs and records.
- Operating a truck safely.
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
