Title: Laborer - Light Equipment Operator, Sanitation Division
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Full-Time, Onsite
JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to operate equipment necessary to complete various facets of maintenance duties. This is semi-skilled, manual labor work involving responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of equipment including large and mid-sized tractors, dump trucks, trash trucks, grass trimmers, and chainsaws, as well as making minor repairs and performing routine maintenance on assigned equipment. An Equipment Operator may serve as a Lead Worker. New assignments will be accompanied by detailed instructions, but routine work will be performed independently. Work is subject to review in progress or upon completion and is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Sanitation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Operates a variety of equipment, including large and mid-sized tractors, dump trucks, trash trucks, grass trimmers, and chainsaws.
- Transports road
- Hauls machinery, refuse, dirt, sand, stone, and
- Transports persons and supplies to and from
- Performs manual labor on the
- Assists in loading and unloading
- Makes minor repairs and performs routine maintenance on
- Mows grass and trims trees on City
- Removes weeds from flower
- Removes leaves and
- Repairs storm
- Ensures picnic areas are clean and ready for
- Maintains athletic fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds, marking athletic fields as
- Performs other duties as required and/or
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- Between one and three years of experience in the maintenance of parks and
- Knowledge of the mechanics and maintenance of automotive
- Ability to perform arduous manual labor, often under adverse weather
- Class "B" current driver's license
