Job Description
This position performs water billing, secretarial, and clerical duties requiring independent judgment. The role provides administrative support to the City Auditor and assists with assigned responsibilities, including assuming certain duties in the City Auditor's absence.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reception / General Office
- Answer and direct incoming calls; greet and assist visitors.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail; prepare outgoing mail.
- Perform general clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, typing, research, and bank deposits.
- Prepare invoices for landfill charges and other city services.
- Coordinate building permits, gaming permits, and liquor licenses.
- Maintain the City website, Facebook page, and records retention and destruction schedule.
Water Billing & Collections
- Receive and process payments, meter readings, credit card transactions, and bank deposits.
- Maintain utility records; prepare bills, invoices, and usage reports for water, sewer, and garbage services.
- Respond to customer account inquiries and correct billing discrepancies.
- Prepare and mail water bills; manage direct pay accounts.
- Maintain past-due account records; issue delinquency and shut-off notices, and coordinate shut-offs.
