What are the responsibilities and job description for the ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN (Water Resources Management) position at City of Surprise?
SUMMARY
The primary focus of incumbents in this role is to provide support to the Water Resources Management Department with regard to environmental concerns for the City’s water operations. Under general supervision, the Environmental Technician performs a variety of technical duties involving collecting water and wastewater samples throughout the City’s distribution, groundwater monitoring wells and wastewater systems for compliance purposes.
High school diploma or GED equivalency, and one year of water utilities and/or laboratory-related experience or one year of college related laboratory classwork. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have at time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License.
Must be able to obtain a certification in one of the following disciplines in the first year of employment, Backflow tester, stormwater sampling certification or any of the four water/wastewater/distribution or collections AZDEQ operator certification.
