The City of Stockton Municipal Utilities Department is looking for a dynamic and skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead and oversee professional engineering work, related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of essential storm, water, and sewer systems and projects.
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll supervise and direct the work of professional engineering staff and consultants engaged in a variety ofcapital improvement and utility infrastructure projects. We offer a flexible 9/80 work schedule consisting of nine-hour workdays Monday through Thursday, and eight hours every other Friday, with alternating Fridays off. Work hours may be adjusted with supervisory approval.A typical schedule may include Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Fridays from 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m.

Incumbents in this position are covered under the Civil Service system, in "for-cause" employment status and are represented by the Mid-Management/Supervisory Bargaining Unit. (Classified/Represented)

Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit to and successfully pass a medical examination, including a back evaluation, and background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.
Under general supervision, plans, organizes and directs the activities of either the Engineering Division staff engaged in professional engineering activities for a variety of traffic and/or capital improvement projects, and related work as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid California Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer. Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
Applicants who qualify in terms of relevant work experience and education, that best fit the needs of the City, will be invited to move to the next step in the examination process. The examination process may include an oral examination or training and experience evaluation weighted 100%. However, the City reserves the right to utilize alternative testing methods if deemed necessary and/or appropriate. Candidates must receive a minimum passing score of 70%, as determined by the relative performance of all candidates in all portions of the examination. In the event of identical ratings, candidates' names will be arranged in order of application date/time, and, if the same, then arranged alphabetically.
